Real answers to your plumbing questions, straight from our licensed team. Get honest options, upfront pricing, and no service fee on your first visit.
A professional, on-time arrival (or a call if we're running behind), a courteous introduction, and a thorough inspection of the issue. We explain what we find in plain English, answer every question, and never rush you into a decision. When the work's done, we walk you through what was completed before we leave.
Usually not, and we're upfront about that. What you get instead is a licensed, insured team that gives you honest recommendations, backs every job with a real warranty, and treats your home with respect from the first call to the final walkthrough. Customers choose us because they'd rather pay for it done right once than pay twice.
Every job includes a 1-year worry-free warranty on parts and labor. If anything goes wrong with our work, we fix it. No charge, no arguing about coverage. We can offer that warranty because we do the job right the first time.
No. We diagnose first and recommend second. If a repair is the right call, we tell you that, even if a replacement would've made us more money. We're building relationships that last for years, not squeezing the most out of one visit.
Always. Before any work begins, we walk you through the diagnosis in plain English and present multiple options at different price points, with honest pros and cons for each. You'll know exactly what you're paying and why before you say yes to anything. No surprise invoices.
Yes. Plumbing problems don't wait for business hours, and neither do we. When you call, our office gives you a two-hour arrival window, and your technician calls with a firm ETA on the way. You're never left guessing when help is showing up.
We're based in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and we serve homeowners throughout the Northwest Twin Cities metro, including Plymouth, Minnetonka, Brooklyn Park, Blaine, Coon Rapids, Osseo, Golden Valley, St Louis Park, Minneapolis, and the surrounding communities.
Yes. First Class Plumbing is fully licensed and insured in Minnesota. That matters more than most homeowners realize. A lot of unlicensed operators are working in the metro right now, often underbidding real plumbers and cutting corners on materials. If something goes wrong on an unlicensed job, there's no insurance behind it and no workman's comp protecting the person in your home. When you hire us, you're covered, and so is the work.
Most traditional tank water heaters last about 8–12 years, but age alone doesn't tell the whole story — maintenance, water quality, usage, and condition matter just as much. Water heaters don't have an expiration date, they have warning signs: rust-colored hot water, moisture or leaks around the base, loud rumbling or popping, longer recovery times, reduced hot water availability, visible corrosion, or multiple recent repairs. The goal isn't replacing on a calendar, it's avoiding an unexpected failure.
Not necessarily. Running out of hot water can be caused by sediment buildup, a failing heating element, thermostat issues, a failing gas burner, a broken dip tube, or a tank that's simply too small for the household now. The key is diagnosing the actual cause before replacing equipment. Diagnosis includes checking the unit's age, tank size vs. household demand, heating elements/burner operation, thermostat settings, sediment, dip tube condition, and any leaks or corrosion.
In most cases, popping or rumbling sounds come from sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank. As the burner heats the tank, water trapped underneath the sediment boils and pushes its way through, creating the popping sound. It's usually not an emergency, but it does mean the water heater is working harder than it should, which can shorten its lifespan and quietly raise your energy bill. Newer units (under 5 years) usually just need a flush. Older units (past 8–10 years) should be inspected first, since flushing a tank that's never been flushed can sometimes expose a leak the sediment was masking.
